World Scholar's Cup

World Scholar's Cup

A global celebration of learning bringing together students from over 65 countries.

A Celebration of Learning

The World Scholar's Cup (WSC) is more than just a competition; it is a global celebration of learning that brings together students from over 65 countries. This team-based programme invites SES students to explore interdisciplinary subjects, collaborate with peers, and compete internationally—sharpening the critical thinking, teamwork, and global perspectives required for success in the modern world.

The Experience: Four Main Events

Students compete in teams of three, engaging in four distinct challenges designed to test their creativity and knowledge:

  • Team Debate: Teams work together to argue persuasive cases on complex social issues, developing public speaking and logical reasoning skills.
  • Collaborative Writing: Each student writes a persuasive essay on a chosen topic, with dedicated time for the team to discuss and debate their arguments beforehand.
  • Scholar's Challenge: An individual multiple-choice challenge that covers six subjects—from Science and History to the Arts—encouraging students to connect ideas across disciplines.
  • Scholar's Bowl: A fast-paced, multimedia team quiz where every team in the theatre races against the clock to answer analytical questions and solve puzzles.

Awards and Community

Success in the WSC is recognised through gold and silver medals, trophies, and the beloved "alpaca" mascots. Beyond the awards, students join a diverse community of young scholars, gaining confidence and lasting friendships that span the globe. Our teachers mentor students throughout this journey, helping them unlock their potential and embrace the joy of learning.
