A Legacy of Educational
Excellence
From humble beginnings to a thriving international community
Surabaya European School was founded in 1997 as the first Montessori school in Surabaya with an AMI trained teacher.
In 2001, the school began using the British National Curriculum in collaboration with the British International School Jakarta. SES then became fully accredited by Cambridge in 2011 and held its first on-site Cambridge examinations that same year, in its newly built campus.
In 2016, SES adopted the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) to further support meaningful and engaging learning.
From a class of just 7 children, SES has grown into a vibrant international school with approximately 170 students from 17 nationalities.
Today, SES remains committed to its warm family atmosphere and to supporting each student’s academic, social, and emotional growth.
