Our Secondary School teaches students from Year 7 through to Year 11. Academically, we pride ourselves on ensuring that our students’ development sees them perfectly prepared for progression into any educational system. Our alumni have gone on to excel in the International Baccalaureate (IB), A-levels and numerous national systems (including USA and European curricula). Our close-knit team of specialist subject teachers together with our small class sizes allow us to closely monitor individual student progress and ensure academic differentiation in accordance with individual student ability.
In addition to ensuring our students’ academic development, we are also committed to developing our students’ communication and information technology skills as well as their leadership and resilience in order to thrive in the 21st century information economy. Our strong co-curricular program provides all students opportunity to participate in sports team, performing arts groups and community service initiatives. Students are also supported in organizing student led initiatives and activities.
Years 7 to 9 follow the UK national curriculum under the framework of Cambridge International Examinations.
Years 10 and 11 study the Cambridge IGCSE – the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 – 16 year olds – which culminates in a series of externally set examinations that are internationally recognized for their high academic standard. In addition to providing students with a comprehensive knowledge base and analytical skills, the two-year curricula and end of course examinations equip the students with the organisational and exam-taking skills needed to excel in which ever final high school years curriculum they progress to.
Students receive daily lessons in English, Science and Maths. In addition to these history, geography, ICT, global perspectives, art and design, drama, Mandarin, French and Indonesian are given full coverage.
SES uses the United Kingdom system for Year levels. A comparison of how these Year levels compare to other educational systems is available here.
